The way that our world has technologically advanced, completely blows my mind. In class, we always start out by talking about the history. I really like how we do this because it allows me to think about all the people who got to experience these things develop around them. My parents and grandparents always tell stories about how they would sit in the living room and listen to a baseball game, news, or weather. Now, our generation can pull out a hand held device and search the web virtually anywhere.
Personally, I am very interested in the film industry, so learning about the impacts, the history, and the importance of movies today was very intriguing. I had always thought that the beginning of movies began with the start of the twentieth century. When Miller first started discussing movies, he started telling us about moving pictures with sound. I remember watching old movies with my grandparents in black and white. This is what really got me interested in film. I also remember watching old movies with Charlie Chaplin running around faster than he should be.
I never knew that some silent movies sometimes had a live band that would play music to keep the person rolling the film on track. I though that that was very innovative and helped people keep on track.
Since I am looking into a profession that might involve cinematography, film, and directing, talking about the importance of movies made me feel like I had a secret advantage to the industry. Film producers try to make the audience feel like they are fully part of the experience. They incorporate emotion and make movies a big production to get the audience involved. I like to feel like I am a part of the movie and I want to make other people feel like that by creating movies.
